I have devised an easy method of making the eyes on a toy using a knot tied at the centre of a length of black yarn. Most of the animals have knot eyes, although embroidered chain stitches are used occasionally. First of all start at centre of the face and mark the eye positions with pins as described for each toy. To assemble collar body and head
Use a double length of fawn yarn threaded in a darning needle. Pass needle through from seam under centre of body to come out at the length of black yarn on body. Leave tail-ends of yarn protruding underneath body. Now take needle through centre of collar. Pass needle through four knitted sts at the back of head, at position of lengths of black yarn. Work a few small horizontal black stitches for nose just below eyes. Work an inverted Y-shape below nose for mouth.
