Waffle Stitch or Rose Fabric
In all four versions of this pattern care must be taken not to cast on too tightly or too many stitches, because the pattern spreads laterally to make a wider piece than might be expected. Check gauge.
Note: For all four versions, odd number of sts.
I. SEED STITCH VERSION
Row 1 (Wrong side)—K2, * pi, kl; rep from *, end kl. Row 2—Kl, * k next st in the row below, kl; rep from *. Row 3—Kl, * pi, kl; rep from *.
Row 4—K2, * k next st in the row below, kl; rep from *, end kl. Repeat Rows 1-4.
II. REVERSE SEED STITCH VERSION
Row 1 (Wrong side)—P2, * kl, pi; rep from *, end pi. Rows 2 and 4—As above in Version I. Row 3—PI, * kl, pi; rep from *.
Repeat Rows 1-4.
III. PURL VERSION
As Version I, above, except Rows 1 and 3—purl.
IV. KNIT VERSION
(Also known as Honeycomb Stitch)
As Version I, above, except Rows 1 and 3—knit.
- WaJJle Stitch, or Rose Fabric upper band: Seed Stitch version second band: Reverse Seed Stitch version third band: Purl version lower band: Knit version (Honeycomb Stitch)
