While this lovely lace is not exclusively Italian, this particular version does come from Milan. It is both graceful and interesting. From the strongly diagonal "lie" of the stitches, one would think that the pattern might form a bias fabric; yet it does not. It is appropriate for circular knitting, where the diagonals will form unbroken spirals.

Row 2—PI, * yo, pi, p2 tog, p3; rep from *, end pi.

Row 3—Kl, * k2, k2 tog, k2, yo; rep from *, end kl.

Row 4—PI. * yo, p3, p2 tog, pi; rep from *, end pi.

Row 7—Kl, * kl, yo, k3, k2 log; rep from *, end kl.

Row 8—PI, * p2 tog, p2, yo, p2; rep from *, end pi.

Row 9—Kl, * k3, yo, kl, k2 tog; rep Iront *, end kl.

Repeat Rows 1-10.
