Sunburst Check Pattern

This beautiful pattern comes from Austria, and lends itself to a multitude of uses. It is informal enough for ski sweaters, yet disciplined enough for fascinatingly embossed coatings. It will also make delightful afghans and baby blankets.

Multiple of 12 sts plus 2.

Notes: Front Cross (FC)—si 1 st to dpn and hold in front, p3, then kl from dpn.

Back Cross (BC)—si 3 sts to dpn and hold in back, kl, then p3 from dpn.

Row 1 (Right side)—K4, * p6, k6; rep from *, end p6, k4.

Row 3—K3. * FC, BC. k4; rep from *, end last repeat k3.

Row 4—P3, * k3, p2, k3, p4; rep from *, end last repeat p3.

Row 17—K3, * BC, FC, k4; rep from *, end last repeat k3.

Rows 19 and 20—Repeat Rows 1 and 2.

Repeat Rows 1-20.
